MAT DATA Waiver Training: MAT stands for Medication Assisted Treatment, which includes the FDA-approved medications such as buprenorphine for the treatment of opioid use disorder. ASAM worked with the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) and the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) to develop an 8-hour and 16-hour training that ensures NPs receive the required education needed to obtain the waiver to prescribe buprenorphine. ASAM is a SAMHSA-approved provider of the waiver training.
Practitioners who serve Medi-Cal beneficiaries in the State of California are required to complete 4-hours of SBIRT training in order to bill for SBIRT services under Medi-Cal.
